Orkney: Brand refresh and Packaging
REFRESHING FLAVOUR
Orkney Ice Cream makes its delicious product using fresh cream from Crantit Dairy off the wild north coast of Scotland. Over the years it has developed a range of flavours, including local favourites like Millionaire Shortbread, Crannachan and Marmalade Cheesecake. We were approached when the company decided they wanted to take its creamy flavours to the wider UK market.
NEED
The brief boiled down to two things: i) refresh the brand; ii) redesign the packaging. To support its effort to capture a bigger share of the UK market, Orkney wanted the branding to be refreshed to have a more modern look, while retaining some of the traditional Orkney references. The aim was to create a brand that could compete with premium ice cream producers such as Jude’s, Mackie’s and Graham’s.
RESPONSE
We researched the UK luxury ice cream market to see how best to differentiate Orkney and turned our findings into a brand story and set of concepts for the new brand look and packaging designs. These concepts were then taken forward and developed into finished designs, ready to roll out.
Services completed for Orkney to date include:-
- Rebrand
- Brand story
- Packaging design
- Web design
- Copywriting
- Exhibitions
- Brochure collateral
- Advertising
OUTCOME
The new branding was completed in time for the Speciality & Fine Food Fair 2017 and is appearing on business cards and a holding web page while Orkney prepares for a full relaunch in 2018.
Clockwise made the effort to understand our product and what matters to us as a brand, before coming up with a rebrand and designs that are fit to take our unique credentials into the modern market.
